IPSWICH V FOXES, PREVIEW
NORTHAMPTON Foxes bid for a first-ever away victory when they make the trip to Ipswich in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership on Thursday (7.30pm).
The Foxes raced to a brilliant win over Leicester at the Shaleway last week to open their account in the top-flight of British Speedway, a result which has given everyone associated with the new venture a massive boost.
The next milestone to achieve is a win on the road, and the Foxes can take some confidence from their previous trip to Foxhall in the KO Cup last month.
On that occasion they battled hard throughout the meeting, leading the early stages before going down 47-43 in what was only their second match of the season.
Jaimon Lidsey (13) and Kye Thomson (10+1) both hit double figures in that encounter, and both riders played a key part in the win against Leicester before making successful guest appearances for Belle Vue on Bank Holiday Monday.
Elsewhere in the Northampton team Troy Batchelor, Jonas Jeppesen and Niels-Kristian Iversen have all had spells as Ipswich riders in the past, whilst Luke Harrison is back in the Rising Star berth after suffering concussion in his last home appearance before being away on FIM Speedway of Nations 2 duty in Prague last week.
Ipswich are unbeaten at home so far this season with three wins out of three, although bad weather earlier this month means they have not raced as a team since May 7.
The Witches make one change as Swedish racer Philip Hellstrom-Bangs is ruled out due to illness, with Jordan Jenkins coming in to guest whilst former British No.2 Edward Kennett is being lined up to replace Hellstrom-Bangs from next week.
Northampton manager Chris Adams said: “We’ve been doing well on the road, and we’ve just been unfortunate that we’ve had bad luck from the start of the year.
“But we’ll certainly look forward to going back to Foxhall, and let’s hope we can come away with a win from there.”
Foxes supporters not making the trip to Foxhall should note that the meeting will be live streamed, with coverage available from https://witchestv.co.uk/ .
The next meeting at Northampton International Shaleway is on Thursday June 4 when the Foxes take on King’s Lynn. Tickets are available from https://northampton-speedway.com/ticket-office
