ABOUT US

NORTHAMPTON foxes

The Northampton Foxes mark an exciting new chapter for speedway in the town, joining the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership for the 2026 season.

Based at Northampton Shaleway, the club has been brought to life through a collaborative effort across the sport, with Paul Hunsdon and Tony Gaul leading as co-promoters, supported by team manager Chris Adams.

NORTHAMPTON SHALEWAY

Northampton Shaleway, located just outside the town between Brafield-on-the-Green and Horton, has a proud connection to speedway dating back to the 1950s. The circuit first staged speedway in 1954, when the Brafield Flying-Foxes competed in the Southern Area League, followed by a short revival in the mid-1960s under the Brafield Badgers.

While speedway was only a small part of the venue’s wider motorsport offering for many years, its roots in the sport remain an important part of the track’s heritage. Following its return to a shale surface in 2018, the circuit has been well-suited once again to speedway racing.

Now, with the arrival of the Northampton Foxes in 2026, speedway returns to Brafield for a new era—building on its history and re-establishing the venue as a home for the sport in Northamptonshire.
