MARIA FUNDRAISER - CAN YOU HELP?

ALL at Northampton Speedway are very saddened to hear about the serious injuries suffered by Maria Costello MBE, the pioneering road racing star from Northampton, during the Isle of Man TT recently.

Maria was a guest at our opening meeting against Ipswich, and she thoroughly enjoyed the evening, spreading the word to her thousands of followers.

Unfortunately, a crash during the opening sidecar qualifying session at the TT last week has left her currently paralysed from the T5/T6 vertebrae down, alongside a broken back involving fractures to both vertebrae, a broken arm, multiple broken ribs, a broken sternum, a broken nose and eye socket, as well as a Grade 4 liver laceration and facial injuries.

Maria is receiving specialist care in hospital in Liverpool, where her condition is thankfully stable, but her injuries are clearly life-changing, and she will require specialist rehab and physio to hopefully help to regain use of her legs, as well as accessibility alterations to her living arrangements when she is able to leave hospital.

We would like to wish Maria all the very best as she facies a long road to recovery, and anyone wishing to help with a donation towards her rehabilitation can do so here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/maria-costello-mbe-road-to-recovery .
