KING’S LYNN v FOXES, PREVIEW

NORTHAMPTON Foxes return to the scene of their first-ever team meeting when they visit King’s Lynn in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership on Monday.

The Foxes made their entry into the sport when they raced at the Adrian Flux Arena in the KO Cup on April 20, going down to a 50-40 defeat.

League points are up for grabs on this occasion, and there are plenty of reasons for optimism for the Foxes, not least because they are able to track a full-strength line-up.

They have been without a fixture since the narrow defeat at Ipswich on May 28, but their opponents have had even longer out of action due to a series of postponements.

In fact, King’s Lynn have not raced since way back on May 11, meaning this will be the Stars’ first meeting in five weeks, and the Foxes will hope to capitalise on any home track rustiness.

Lynn have been inconsistent so far this season, dropping points on their own track to Belle Vue last time out, but they do have plenty of strength in their ranks including Max Fricke, who was a Grand Prix winner in Manchester last weekend, whilst youngsters Cooper Rushen and Jody Scott finished first and second in the British Under-21 Final.

The Stars are without Italian racer Paco Castagna who is ruled out with a thumb injury, and they will operate the rider replacement facility.

For the Foxes it’s a full one-to-seven, including former King’s Lynn man Niels-Kristian Iversen who was sidelined with injury on their previous visit.

At reserve, Kye Thomson has continued to pile up the points at Championship level during the Foxes’ recent break, whilst his colleague Luke Harrison along with Troy Batchelor and captain Nicolai Klindt are also ex-Stars riders.

Manager Chris Adams said: “I’m really looking forward to going to King’s Lynn on Monday with a full team.

“Our first meeting of the season was there earlier this year and we came away with a 10-point loss. We are a much more confident team now we have settled a bit, and we have riders that are on form.

“We know it’s going to be a tough meeting, but I know the guys are looking to come away with some more league points and that will surely be our aim.”

Monday’s meeting is not being live streamed but Foxes fans not making the trip will be able to follow the action on the club’s social media channels, whilst race-by-race updates will be available from https://britishspeedway.co.uk/live/ .

It’s the start of a busy week as the Foxes make their return to Northampton International Shaleway on Thursday with the visit of powerhouse Sheffield. Tickets for that meeting are available from https://northampton-speedway.com/ticket-office .
