ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR FOXES!
NORTHAMPTON Speedway are delighted to confirm their track inspection has been successful – and therefore it’s all systems go for their big opening night on Thursday.
All aspects of the infrastructure required to run the sport at Northampton International Shaleway were inspected by the Speedway Control Bureau on Tuesday afternoon.
This was followed by a track test involving several riders who took laps of the circuit at racing speed, starting on an individual basis and then building up to full-scale races involving four riders at a time, where the feedback was extremely positive.
Track inspector Mick Bates – who will also be the meeting referee on Thursday – along with SCB chairman Jim Lawrence and co-ordinator Neil Vatcher were all present at the inspection as the venue received the green light.
This means the Foxes can kick off their home campaign on Thursday when they face Ipswich, with the meeting getting underway at 7.30pm.
The news is the culmination of a mammoth effort over the last two months following confirmation that the Foxes would be entering the sport this season, and the club would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped them to reach this stage.
Co-promoter Tony Gaul said: “Eight weeks ago the company Northampton Speedway Ltd never existed, and without the people behind the scenes this would never have happened.
“Even today the amount of work that has gone in from volunteers, all the board, I just can’t thank everybody enough. I look forward to a great season!”
Tickets for Thursday’s meeting are now available and can be purchased from https://northampton-speedway.com/tickets-hospitality . Tickets will also be available from the stadium on racenight, with cash or card payment options available.
A full preview of the meeting will follow on Wednesday.
