FOXES v KING’S LYNN, PREVIEW
NORTHAMPTON Foxes wrap up their debut Premiership campaign when they host King’s Lynn at the Shaleway on Thursday (7.30pm).
It’s been a momentous campaign with the Foxes only declared in the league back in March, with extensive work taking place at venue enabling them to start racing at the venue in late April.
For a new team formed at short notice there was no real surprise that results were initially hard to come by, but the Foxes remained competitive throughout and by mid-summer there were substantial improvements.
Their last five home matches have produced three wins and a draw, with only runaway leaders Belle Vue able to take an away victory.
Now the challenge is to finish off on a high against King’s Lynn, who remained in play-off contention until the closing stages of the season but saw their hopes shattered by Ipswich’s away win at Leicester on Monday.
The Foxes return to full strength with Niels-Kristian Iversen, Nicolai Klindt and Kye Thomson all back after having to miss Wednesday’s rearranged fixture at Sheffield.
The Stars have also declared their full side including GP star Max Fricke, who finished third in Vojens last weekend, GB legend Chris Harris and 16-year-old sensation Cooper Rushen.
Foxes manager Chris Adams said: “Our last five home matches have provided us with three wins, one draw and one loss.
“So the improvement is certainly there and on Thursday we shall be looking at winning our last home meeting and finish our season on winning ways.
“The supporters have all been fantastic all year, and how you have all stuck with us is just truly amazing.
“We will get there. I’m confident we shall bring success but we have to keep working hard to achieve it.”
After the meeting – win, lose or draw – the Foxes riders all be brought out to say their end of season farewells to the crowd.
Due to a late change of scheduling, Foxes TV will not be operational for this meeting as it is now being taken by BSN.
