KINg’S LYNN v FOXES, PREVIEW

NORTHAMPTON Foxes are finally set to track their full team when they travel to King’s Lynn in ROWE Motor Oil Premiership action on Monday (7.30pm).

This will be the Foxes’ 13th match in all competitions since their entry to the sport this season, but it will be the first time they have tracked the full one-to-seven they declared in March.

Early matches saw them without Danish racer Niels-Kristian Iversen, ironically after a crash during Nicolai Klindt’s Testimonial meeting – and then in early May, Slovenian star Matej Zagar suffered a broken ankle in a crash at Belle Vue.

Zagar is now back racing and he makes his return for the Foxes at the Adrian Flux Arena, with his replacement Jonas Jeppesen making way.

His comeback is a welcome boost as the Foxes look to convert close scorelines and potential winning positions into putting actual league points on the table, especially with a big home match to come against league leaders Belle Vue on Thursday.

First up is the trip to Norfolk, where the Foxes have already raced twice this season in league and KO Cup, and where they came close to success on their last appearance.

The mid-June match at the Adrian Flux Arena saw Northampton 37-35 up with three races to go, only for the power of home duo Max Fricke and Jan Kvech to see the Stars through in the closing stages.

Lynn’s season has so far been a story of inconsistency, but they enjoyed a major high on Thursday when they slammed local rivals Ipswich 54-36 in their best display of the campaign.

The upturn coincided with the home debut of new signing Jordan Jenkins, who has replaced Paco Castagna in the Stars’ line-up and races at reserve with Cooper Rushen now in the main body of the team.

Rushen and Foxes Rising Star Luke Harrison have set up a big date in Poland in October as, along with Will Cairns who scored a 15-point maximum, they qualified for the FIME European Pairs Final with second place their semi-final at Macon on Saturday.

Although giving up two of his rides to Rushen, Harrison scored five points from four outings as GB finished three points clear of fourth-placed Norway to make the qualification cut.

Harrison is one of several Foxes riders with extensive experience of the Adrian Flux Arena circuit and they will be keen to step up from Thursday’s 49-41 defeat at Leicester.

Foxes manager Chris Adams said: “When you look at the team as we have it now, if they all chip away and score the points they are capable of, I’m certain we can put wins on the board.

“I know King’s Lynn had a good home win on Thursday, but that doesn’t matter to me. We’re going there with a level playing field, and with riders who know that track, and we’ll do whatever we can do from there.”

Foxes supporters not making the trip to the Adrian Flux Arena will be able to follow the action via the BSN live stream, available from https://www.britishspeedwaynetwork.co.uk/
