LEICESTER v FOXES, PREVIEW

NORTHAMPTON Foxes go into two away matches in the space of five days with a short trip to Leicester on Thursday (7.30pm).

The Foxes again fell just short of a home victory when they lost out to Ipswich on Monday, and that continued a frustrating pattern of recent results.

With scores of 43, 42, 42 and 44 in their last four matches (46 required for a win) it indicates just how close they are to being able to put consistent ROWE Motor Oil Premiership points on the board.

Club bosses have confirmed they are monitoring the situation with the next home match against leaders Belle Vue just over a week away.

Before that, though, the Foxes are on the road to Leicester and then King’s Lynn next Monday, and they will be unchanged in personnel as they head to the East Midlands.

Their previous visit to the Hydroscand Arena saw them suffer their biggest defeat of the season, although there were mitigating circumstances on the night as they were without Niels-Kristian Iversen due to injury with the position worsened when Matej Zagar crashed out earlier in the day at Belle Vue.

This time they track a full one-to-seven and will look to take advantage of Leicester’s lack of track time on their own circuit.

The Lions haven’t raced a home match since May 28, when they beat Sheffield, and they were the team on the receiving end when the Foxes notched their memorable first victory at Northampton International Shaleway.

Promoter Paul Hunsdon said: “It was very frustrating on Monday night that again we just can’t get across the line in meetings.

“Myself, Tony (Gaul) and Chris (Adams) are going to sit down and look at what we need to do to make sure that we are getting across the line, because we all want success for Northampton Speedway.

“At the moment we’re not quite achieving what we want, so we need to ensure that we look very closely at what we can do to make sure that we start getting some results in the meetings that we’re losing.

“Away at Leicester on Thursday is a tough, tough meeting, then we’re away at King’s Lynn, and then we have a big one at home against Belle Vue – so we need to look at our options to see what we’re doing to make sure we’re as strong as possible against them!”

Foxes supporters not making the trip to the Hydroscand Arena can still follow the action via Leicester’s live stream, available from https://www.leicesterlionstv.com/ .
